My client is a large distribution company with a head office in London, ON

Their IT Department has an immediate full-time opportunity available for a Manager of IT Infrastructure and Operations.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of IT, and as a key member of the IT Leadership Team, the Manager of IT Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the IT strategy and for ensuring the I&O strategy is fully aligned and positioned to deliver ongoing value to our organization. In addition, the Manager of IT I&O will utilize their existing knowledge base as well as bring a vision for transforming the I&O function including strategy, service offerings and workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the I&O mission, vision, and strategy for the organization to maximize the success of the business and IT initiatives
  • Introduces innovative and differentiating I&O capabilities that enhance our overall competitive advantage
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs
  • Creates and aligns an I&O value map by linking targeted business outcomes with the future-state business capabilities required to achieve them
  • Develops and controls the annual I&O budget to ensure that it is consistent with the overall strategic objectives of the organization
  • Defines, develops, and manages a comprehensive and integrated ITSM landscape, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related tool sets
  • Collaborates with the Cyber Security Consultant to ensure I&O embrace and apply the security strategy
  • Operates a formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by the IT Team; supports periodic reviews by internal audit, and other risk-related functions as required
  • Provides direction on what emerging technologies should be incorporated into I&O products and services to successfully deliver an overall IT strategy
  • Provides strategic direction and oversight for the full life cycle of design, development, operation, and support of IT systems
  • Directs the development of an I&O sourcing strategy and provides executive oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management
  • Develops the maturity of I&O to improve efficiency, deliver new innovations and increase collaboration with other areas of the organization
  • Drives the adoption of and commitment towards service improvements
  • Serves on IT planning and policymaking committees, driving the development of technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in IT with at least three years in a leadership capacity with responsibilities involving strategy, budgeting, and staffing
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • Proven experience and capability of leading IT transformational initiatives and Azure / AWS Cloud Migration in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate an I&O vision that inspires and motivates teammates and aligns with the IT and business strategy
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution abilities
  • Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and build consensus to gain support for major initiatives
  • Ability to develop, coach, mentor and provide performance management for teammates
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging I&O technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them
  • Knowledgeable in how to apply I&O capabilities to achieve regulatory or statutory compliance requirements
  • Experience with developing governance practices to track and measure the quality of services and maintain service improvement plans
  • Strong third-party management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to the Senior Leadership Team, and business concepts to the IT Team
